08/07/2021 Update on Delta variant symptoms.
We have noticed some new positive cases of Covid in Ludlow and that symptoms reported are changing. With restrictions relaxing in the next few weeks we would like to draw the attention to the following information.
The currently circulating Delta variant of COVID-19 presents slightly differently to the previously known symptoms for Covid infection.
Unless you have recently received a negative Covid test, the following symptoms should be investigated:
• Blocked nose
• Weakness/ fatigue
• Muscle aches
• Runny nose or eyes
• Loss of taste/ smell and/or appetite
• Sore throat
The traditional symptoms of cough and fever are less common.
It is likely if you suffer from hay fever the virus will mimic some of your usual symptoms.
If you have new symptoms, similar to above please do the following;
– stay home and self isolate especially if you are unvaccinated
– do a lateral test (if you have one) but this may be inaccurate so a negative test should be followed up by a PCR test if you have symptoms
– call 119 and ask for an appt for a PCR test at the Ludlow testing centre or book a test online
The best way to protect yourself from getting Covid 19 is to get your Covid 19 vaccination as soon as possible
If you are over 18 and have not yet had your 1st dose of the vaccine please call 119 or book online to make an appointment as soon as possible to protect yourself and your loved ones.
You can also attend one if the walk in clinics
