We have had a lot of questions lately from our older over 65 year old patients who are under the false impression that they need to stay at home in lockdown and “shield” until the end of June.
We have done this quick summary which we hope you all find useful. Shielded patients are a small minority of patients and it is NOT based on age but on certain medical conditions. Unless you have one of these medical conditions listed below a patient who is over 65 years of age is at MODERATE risk.
Moderate risk patients are advised to follow the guidelines on social distancing more strictly but you can go out and you do not need to shield.
From Monday moderate risk patients can meet with upto 6 people in their garden or in an outdoor location.
Please share this message with your older relatives who may be shielding unnecessarily.
Stay safe
