FLU VACCINATION PROGRAM 2020/2021 (Update 19.9.2020)

Posted on September 19th, 2020

FLU VACCINATION PROGRAM 2020/2021

Our open air marquee is up and ready for our Flu Campaign this year!

We would like to thank Shropshire CCG and Shropshire Council for the help we have received from them in order to make this possible.

All our Flu jabs will be provided in our open area marquee, walk through service in the practice carpark this year in order to maximise social distancing and reassure our vulnerable patients that they can come to get the flu jab safely at our practice.

How are appointments for the Drive-Through/Walk-Through Clinic arranged?

We have been calling/texting/emailing all priority patients since August and already given the majority of them an appointment a in order to ensure they receive their vaccine first in September/October. If you have not had an invitation we do apologise that somehow you have been missed, please call the practice on our dedicated flu line which is now open from Monday 21st September.

If you are between 50-65 year old and are not normally eligible for the flu please DO NOT CALL THIS LINE OR BOOK AN APPOINTMENT ON PATIENT ACCESS.

Patients aged 50-64 (without other qualifying criteria) cannot book a flu vaccination yet appointments as these may be made available in November or December for this group subject to additional flu vaccine supply. We will update you as soon as we know more information.

Our dedicated flu line

ONLY AVAILABLE for all over 65 year old patients and

under 65 year olds who are shielding or live with a shielded patient or  are normally eligible for the flu due to a medical condition.

01584872682

Call the practice between 10.30 and 12.30am Monday to Friday.

Our dedicated appointments on Patient Access

ONLY AVAILABLE for all over 65 year old patients and

under 65 year olds who are shielding or live with a shielded patient or  are normally eligible for the flu due to a medical condition.

We would highly recommend that you avoid the queue on the telephone by registering with Patient Access immediately in order to ensure that you can book your flu appointment online.

You can now also apply for proxy access for Patient Access on behalf of loved ones and those you care for in order to book the flu jab appointment for them.

For information on how to register with patient access for yourself or apply for proxy access on behalf of a loved one, please visit our website https://portcullis-surgery.co.uk/online-access-registration/. It really is very easy to do and takes less than 10 minutes.

Once again if you are between 50-65 year old and are not normally eligible for the flu please DO NOT CALL THIS LINE OR BOOK AN APPOINTMENT VIA PATIENT ACCESS.

Patients aged 50-64 (without other qualifying criteria) cannot book a flu vaccination yet appointments as these may be made available in November or December for this group subject to additional flu vaccine supply. We will update you as soon as we know more information.

  • all patients aged between 50-64 years

Orders for supplies are usually ordered by practices a year in advance with vaccine supplies being scheduled to be delivered from September to November. A proportion of our vaccine supplies is scheduled to be delivered by mid-September and the rest by mid-October however dates have not been confirmed by manufacturers as yet.

Additional supplies needed for flu jabs as a result of COVID-19 expanded list in 2020.

Portcullis Surgery has been actively trying to secure additional vaccine supplies since May, even before the expanded list was  announced and have so far been unable to secure additional vaccine supplies despite our best efforts. We will continue to seek assurance of provision of these additional supplies from the manufacturers,  from the CCG and from NHS England.

We have no confirmation yet of when we will receive additional flu supplies for patients in the expanded cohort.
