Update on Covid Vaccine 30/12/20
There is still no news to report on the Shropshire CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) led Southwest hub but it is unlikely to be set up until at least mid January. We know many of you will be disappointed by this update but as we have said on numerous occasions our hands are tied because we cannot be approved to provide the Pfizer vaccine as an individual practice only a group of practices can be approved, so therefore we must wait for the hub to be set up and for vaccine to be offered to our area by the CCG.
Please do not call the practice for an update, our lines are very busy after Christmas and we cannot cope with additional calls regarding the Covid vaccine.
As soon as we have more information we will post it.
The Oxford/Astra Zeneca has now been approved which is very welcome news as this vaccine can be stored in normal fridges for upto 6months and can be managed by individual practices in a similar manner to the annual influenza vaccine.
The practice will be making enquiries today to the CCG and PCN regarding the possibility of this vaccine being made available to individual practises such as Portcullis in order for us to start our vaccination programme as a practice rather than a group of practices. If we have any news we will post it on this forum as well as on our website immediately.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR PRACTICE REGARDING THE COVID VACCINE
We need the lines to be free for sick patients.
Many thanks Dr Beanland on behalf of Portcullis Practice
