Welcome to our new Mental Health Social Worker Mr James Dalziel.
Portcullis would like to welcome our new mental health social worker to the practice. He will be working at the practice alternative Mondays and Wednesdays from this week.
James has been working as a mental health Social Worker for 13 years in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. James is also an Approved Mental Health Professional. He is also used to practice as a Dialectical Behaviour Therapist.
Appointments with our Mental Health Social Worker Mr James Dalziel
Bookings with James can be booked by any clinician or any receptionist at the patients request. His role is designed to increase capacity in primary care by working alongside our nurses, ANPs, GPs and counsellors Siri Lewis and Rosie Lancaster to provide a first point of contact for patients.
In many cases our clinicians will refer more complex cases for his review and assessment.
Patients must be 18 years and over, and not currently open or under the mental health team.
Suitable patients who can be booked in with James are as follows:
-Adults 18 years and over
-not currently open to mental health team
Patients with more complex and severe mental health symptoms such as
- severe anxiety,
- severe depression,
- bipolar disease,
- schizophrenia or
- personality disorders
- crisis management
- anger management
- eating disorders
- mother and baby mental health
He has been appointed and funded jointly by the South West PCN aswell as the Mental Health Trust. He will work across the PCN is to support patients with mental health needs.
James will be on hand for patients to book in with her to give guidance, advice and treatment for patients with more complex and severe mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disease, schizophrenia or personality disorders that are not currently open or under the care of a psychiatrist or mental health team.
He will complete an assessment as part of his consultation. He can also provide low level psycho educational sessions and provide patients with a tool kit to help with their mental health.
If counselling is needed he will signpost patients to either Siri Lewis or Rosie Lancaster our counsellors or other counselling options such as IAPT Adult Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme. He will also refer to the Mental health Team for more specialised help if needed.
