Shingles vaccines

We are getting a lot of phonecalls to the practice asking us about shingles vaccines due to the confusing messaging on media from NHS England.

The eligibility for shingles vaccines is complicated however the basic rules are set out in the picture below which are:

*anyone over 50 who is immunocompromised
*anyone who is going to be 65 from 1st sept 2023 until 31st august 2024
*anyone who is going to be 70 from 1st sept 2023 until 31st august 2024
*anyone who is 70-79 currently and has not had a shingles vaccine yet.

Anyone who is already 80 is NO LONGER ELIGIBLE.

We are sorry but we cannot change these rules and they are not our rules they are NHS England’s rules.

DO NOT CALL TO BOOK YOU APPT FOR SHINGLES, WE ARE BUSY WITH OTHER VACCINES AND SEEING URGENT PATIENTS, DON’T WORRY YOU WILL BE TEXTED, CALLED OR SENT A LETTER TO INVITE YOU TO OUR BOOKED CLINICS FOR SHINGLES WHICH WILL BE RUN BEFORE THE END OF OCTOBER.
