Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Cancer Screening Week runs this week from Monday 20th – Friday 24th June 2022.
People across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin are being urged to attend regular screening opportunities to identify problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and other cardiac risk factors aswell as the early signs of cancer and to find out more about booking a screening appointment at their local GP practice, and what to expect at the appointment.
Today we would like to highlight the NHS health check program.
If you’re aged between 40 and 74 then you may be entitled to a free NHS health check.
You’re entitled to an NHS health check every 5 years if you’re aged between 40 and 74 and not already being treated for certain long term conditions.
To book in for a health check please email us on portcullis.surgery@nhs.net or call us on 01584872939 for an appointment with our health care assistants.
You will NOT need a check if you have had an NHS Health Check in the past 5 years, and if you’ve already been diagnosed with:
chronic kidney disease
coronary heart disease
diabetes
heart attack
heart condition (atrial fibrillation)
high blood pressure
high cholesterol
stroke or mini stroke
